The new PJD Carey Standard is our solid bodied single cut guitar featuring belly cut and arm rest contours. Fitted with a PJD Parkins Cream P90 and a Wadfather Zebra Coil Humbucker. These scatter hand wound pickups provide a huge dynamic range with a clear and expressive voice. The Standards lightweight Obeche body is resonant and musical, which makes long stints on stage, practicing or in the studio comfortable.
The plain maple neck now features a silk screen decal, drilled truss rod access and tinted lacquer for a vintage inspired aesthetic. A 25.5 inch scale length provides plenty of brightness and a familiar string tension. Our ultra comfortable modern medium c shape neck, has a 10 inch fretboard radius and medium Jescar 55090 frets.
There is a dual pickup route at the neck position which means you can opt for a P90 or humbucker.
Each Standard series guitar is supplied in a premium gig bag.
Colour Options
The Carey Standard is available in our standard colour options or with a "Spray Over" finish.
What is a "Spray Over" finish?
A Spray Over finish sees our guitar initially painted in Three Tone Sunburst. A second colour from our standard options is then sprayed directly over the top. The finish is then rubbed back in certain areas to reveal the three tone sunburst beneath, giving the guitar a unique aesthetic.

PJD Guitars is one of the UK's biggest instrument manufacturers. Founded in 2010 by Leigh Dovey, the brand's name is a tribute to his late father, who worked as a prop maker for London's Royal Opera House. Picking up his dad's skills to become a proficient woodworker, Leigh honed his guitar-making craft over the years alongside a full-time role in sound/video engineering.
Fast-forward to 2017, and PJD Guitars took a big step by moving to a large York-based workshop in order to increase production and set up a place to officially call "home". In the time since, Leigh and his team have created hundreds of incredible electric guitars for players who adore the finer things in life! The best thing about PJD's guitars is that they're true high-end instruments made in the UK, priced reasonably.
PJD Guitar Range
The current PJD Guitars lineup encompasses 5 core models — the Carey, St. John, York, Valhalla, and Woodford. PJD's Carey guitar follows the classic single-cut design but has a unique humbucker/P90 configuration (Standard) and a flat body top. The St. John takes inspiration from the legendary '60s offset, albeit with the same base pickup pairing as the Carey and a modified shape, while the Woodford is a versatile S-type guitar both elegant and bold. The PJD York introduces our take on a time-honoured and revered guitar. Featuring our very own PJD, custom hand wound, single coil, ‘High Tea’ pickups and an open grain nitrocellulose finish.
Standard, Elite, and Limited Edition versions of these models are available, with the latter featuring more exotic timbers and features.
