The ABRSM 'Easier Piano Pieces' series features pieces chosen for their comparative lack of technical difficulty, therefore providing an excellent introduction to the music of great composers throughout history.
Anatol Lyadov (1855-1914) was a Russian composer, conductor, teacher, and collector and arranger of folksongs. Although he wrote few large-scale works, he did compose numerous piano miniatures which - many imbued with a quiet melancholy while others revealing a vein of delicate humour - abound in lyrical charm. Eighteen of these are collected in this album to provide varied moderate to difficult repertoire for the pianist.
