The ABRSM 'Easier Piano Pieces' series features pieces chosen for their comparative lack of technical difficulty, therefore providing an excellent introduction to the music of great composers throughout history.
The Op. 39 Waltzes were composed by Johannes Brahms in 1865. Originally intended as piano duets, the composer arranged simplified versions of the duets for solo piano two years later and it is these that are published here. These are perhaps the least demanding of Brahms’s output for piano with strongly contrasted moods providing an ideal and attractive introduction to the music of this great composer.
